The
Music Department at William Parker School houses the Hastings
Gamelan. It is an iron and brass Gamelan with both slendro and pelog
tunings. It is called "Alun Madu" which means "A Wave of honey". The
gamelan arrived in 1992 and was given its name by the Indonesian
Cultural Attaché on Saturday 18 July, at a gamelan concert with the
South Bank Gamelan Players and a Wayang Kuilit and
dance.
